Preamble

The development of GASFLOW started at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) in the late 1980’s. FORSCHUNGSZENTRUM teamed up with LANL for the code development and verification effort in 1993 and has overtaken the sole responsibility since 1998. The code is now leaving the research status and ready for broader applications in the field of energy technology. FORSCHUNGSZENTRUM offers a GASFLOW Users Group (UG) to provide a living information exchange basis and a platform for further code development. The detailed objectives of the Users Group are to

• provide support on a regular basis,
• establish a platform for exchange of experiences,
• help in the acquisition of commercial projects, either alone or within the UG,
• identify future needs,
• assist in GASFLOW validation work of UG-members,
• support model developments by UG-members.

 

Services

Immediately after formation of the user club the following services will be provided to UG members:

• FORSCHUNGSZENTRUM grants access to the actual validated GASFLOW source code without license fee for non-commercial use (research, training and education purposes)
• FORSCHUNGSZENTRUM sets-up a server with the latest released version of the code (executable created under SuSE Linux 9.0 or later versions, source code available)
• FORSCHUNGSZENTRUM up-dates the code documentation and the installation procedure for GASFLOW
• FORSCHUNGSZENTRUM provides sample problems for different problem categories, structured for beginners and advanced users (about 120 sample and assessment problems in total)
• FORSCHUNGSZENTRUM supports the exchange of geometry input files for existing test facilities
• FORSCHUNGSZENTRUM provides hot-line support by e-mail exchange, with the intention to provide generally aid within 2 working days
• FORSCHUNGSZENTRUM organises a free yearly Information Exchange Meeting at FORSCHUNGSZENTRUM for UG-members to present new model developments, to discuss experiences, including presentations from the UG members, and to identify future modelling needs
• FORSCHUNGSZENTRUM helps to set-up one starter model for each UG-member
• FORSCHUNGSZENTRUM places a collection of all GASFLOW publications on the server
• the server has an advertisement section and FORSCHUNGSZENTRUM supports efforts of the UG for acquisition of commercial contracts
• FORSCHUNGSZENTRUM provides a fact sheet about the GASFLOW-2 program (purpose, hardware requirement, verification, advantages to commercial codes)
• The membership fee for the above services is 10.000 € (plus VAT if applicable) per membership year.
• FORSCHUNGSZENTRUM offers code support only to UG-members. Extended services like special training, development of new physical and geometry models or compilations are not covered by this agreement
• Besides the membership in the UG, the use of GASFLOW in any commercial project requires an additional bilateral agreement between FORSCHUNGS ZENTRUM and the respective UG-member (see Figure)
• FORSCHUNGSZENTRUM intends to establish the UG for at least 5 years. Each member may terminate its membership to the end of the membership year with written notice at least three month before the end of the year
